Pretty much the lamest finale ever to the lamest season I’ve seen of this show. I think it was definitely hurting from Mia’s departure, SYTYCD fatigue due to back to back seasons, and a lame 6 contestant finale.
BUT the good news is, the girl who’s been my favorite from the very get-go might win. Kathryn has been consistenly great, but it was awesome to see her with Jakob. They were unbelieveable and I can’t believe the bomb Nigel dropped last night. This was by far the very best number of the night:
My Least favorite. Stop with the crying already! This routine was so easy, you know poor Travis held back so much. And if either of them win, I don’t know what I’ll do…Notice none of the judges even comment on the dancing.
And now to the prediction of the winner!
I would love to see either of these 2, because I think they are amazing:
But, of course, I’m really hoping Kathryn got the votes. And how can I forget Russell? This guy is unbelievable, it’s almost like a light shines from him when he dances. You can watch when he shows up Ashleigh, but I was glad he and Kathryn finished out the show.
OH. P.S. All this talk about Ashleigh’s injury blah blah blah. Did you know Ellenore tore her rotatar cuff last week and danced through it? It’s crap that Ashleigh/Ryan and the “show’s doctors” made such a big deal of Ashleighs and no one said word one to commend Ellenore on being brave through hers.

I’m sad I didn’t have time to post before the cuts last night. I’ll get to them in a second as well as the usual stuff, but first I have 2 complaints:
1) Ashleigh and Ryan’s guilt trips on Tuesday. She’s injured and he fake cries their way into the top 6. How could you buy into this America?! These two are the worst dancers to ever get so far through the competition. I really wish they would let us call to vote off. I would vote the entire 2 hours for these 2.
2) A finale with the top 6? Are you kidding? I can’t believe they planned it like this. Why couldn’t they have cut out one week of stupid auditions in order to fit in a real finale?
But onto better things…The Best routine:
Ellenore and Legacy really did kill it. But then….
On 2nd viewing, I don’t think it was as bad as I originally thought, but still the weakest on a strong night.
But we all know the outcome: Legacy and Mollee left last night. And neither should have gone.
Finale next week! I’m so glad Kathryn and Russell made it. And on a side note, I hope they never do back-to-back seasons again. Last season was way better than this one.

My absolute favorite:
I completely agree with what Adam said the WOW moments have been so few and far between this season. Ellenore and Jakob showed everyone how good these minute and a half dances can be and it really made me wish they had been together all along. In my opinion, Ellenore is emerging as a dark horse. She has been in some of the most memorable routines so far this season and this routine really showed her to be a star.
And in 2nd place:
I LOVE RUSSELL. But I still can’t call a clear cut winner. Jakob is still the best, but I’m not sure if he’ll be the favorite. No surprise here: I thought Kathryn was great in both her dances, but man, was Nathan a different boy this week or what? I didn’t catch last week’s results show but they must have torn him up. I think he swung too far the opposite way in his emotions to be likable this week. He just seemed so, so sad. This girl was a surprise for me: Noelle. She had a great night esp. in the hip hop. Her partner Ryan did well too, but male ballroom dancer’s solos always seem weird.
I knew Ashleigh would be revealed for the lame duck she is, but the bad thing is Legacy, one of my absolute favorite dancers, was partnered with her. BUT I should say, I really think these 2 looked so awful because of choreography. As Adam pointed out, we all know they can both do hip hop, so a lame routine might land them in the bottom.
In the bottom: We’re so close to the end and its getting harder and harder to predict. So I’m going to throw a hail Mary-
Girls: Ashleigh, Mollee, Noelle Boys: Ryan, Nathan, Legacy

I really don’t have any time to write this (I’m stealing time from cleaning), but I was so angry about something last night I had to write.
For weeks Ashleigh has been floating along on the fumes of Jakob‘s firey performances and last night was just the last straw for me. I think she was fine in the cha-cha, but here’s their first dance:
She LITERALLY walked and rolled around the stage while Jakob was incredible. Then he picked her up some. Then the judges completely praise HER over and over and over while the rest of the girls are killing themselves actually dancing, getting small fractions of the love they lavishly present to Ashleigh.
But I have no doubt she’ll get into the top 10. She’s like the Comfort of this season for me (seriously). I’m excited to see how she does with a new partner (mostly because I think she’ll be exposed for the talent moocher she is.)
Onto what I liked: Kathryn and Legacy‘s Waltz, Ellenore and Ryan‘s Broadway (the only B’way I’ve ever liked on this show.), and Karen and Victor‘s Tango, even though he creeps me out.
Even though it was fantastic, I think this couple is a shoe-in for bottom 3 because of the disasterous hip hop and they have (sadly in Karen‘s case) consistently been in the bottom.
Also in the bottom: Noelle and Russell, then who? I think it should be Mollee and Nathan. But we’ll see. Every week I’ve done predictions I’m 2/3, I feel like tonight will be the same way. That last couple could be almost anyone.
November 18, 2009
I’m short on time because I just caught the routines on YouTube today.
The Best: Ellenore and Ryan. AND the real star, Travis Wall. I’ve loved everything he’s done.
The Worst: Karen and Kevin
The Rest: I loved Legacy and Kathryn’s piece, but they are by far my favorite couple. Ashleigh really surprised me in hip hop. I agreed that the Blackbird music distracted me from the dancing but I loved the music. I did like Nathan and Mollee, but I don’t think they performed as strong as the routine demanded for it to look great.
And the bottom 3: Karen and Kevin, Channing and Victor, and I’m not sure about #3- Noelle and Russell? Or despite the great evening they had, will it be Ryan and Ellenore? I hope not, but just sayin’ they’ve consistently been in the bottom…
I guess we’ll see soon enough!

Tonight was weak. My favorite was Russell and Noelle with Afrojazz. I LOVE Russell- he has an inner-glow that shines through his smile and when he dances. Even so, it was missing something for me.
Channing and Victor’s was pretty good- loved the choreography and music selection, didn’t love the performance. But Karen and Kevin were great, as always. Karen is the strongest female contender.
Worst of the week definitely goes to Mollee and Nathan. I wish they would stop acting like 12-year-olds in the interview packages- it makes it awkward for all of us watching- like seeing a little sister try so hard to be sexy. (did you notice she high-fived the choreographer who told her she was sexy? ha!) And the dancing was so, so off.
But thankfully for them, many other couples were off too. Like Ryan and Ellenore in hip-hop and Pauline and Peter in the quick-step (although I agreed 110% with what the judges said about performance.)
I do think the judges were wrong on 2 things: 1) Ashleigh/her dance with Jakob. Nigel was wrong- this cane dance was not up to snuff with the table dance for Mandy Moore. Ashleigh is not nearly as good as they praise her for being, and I didn’t feel any of the intensity the judges felt. 2) Legacy and Kathryn’s routine wasn’t as bad as they made it out to be. And they tore Kathryn up for something her choreographer may have (probably) told her to do- act cute. The moves were all cutesy, and they stuck her in that cutesy outfit.
Predictions for bottom 3 couples: Ellenore and Ryan, Pauline and Peter, and Kathryn and Legacy (crossing my fingers this last won’t come true because it should be Mollee and Nathan.)
I guess we’ll see tonight…What did you think?
November 4, 2009
I’m so glad this is the last week the judges pick without voter input, even though I did agree with all their picks this go around.
Favorite Dance of the night goes to….I never thought I’d say it….Mollee and Nathan for Bollywood (I’m still trying to forget the Mollee-wood comment). It’s clearly the best one since Katie and Joshua from Season 4.
Kathryn and Legacy came in at a close second. They are definitely my favorite couple. I was a little concerned this would turn into the Addiction piece from last year, but I thought the movement was unique and beautiful.
Karen and Russell are two stand-outs from the night. I don’t remember Karen’s partners name yet, and Noelle is a little annoying…although her solo was good.
Here’s the worst dance from tonight: Its a tie! Bianca and Victor’s Broadway. Tyce is really hit or miss for me and tonight was a miss- there was no definite movement or choreography, it was like he just let them run around the stage waving their arms…
But Wade Robson, who can be brilliant and great, was not tonight. I loved the idea, as far out as it was, but the choreography was weak. Started out pretty interesting, but they didn’t really do any real dancing.
(I’ll post the video when it’s up on youtube)
The real surprise for me was to find myself crying a little when Phillip (I never cared for Bianca) went home. I didn’t even like him especially, but everyone was so heartbroken at his leaving and knowing that his father just died…So sad. And he was so gracious as he accepted the judges decision.
On a positive note-Shout out to Travis- I liked Ashleigh this week! Her waltz with Jacob was pretty. And after round 2, I’m bold enough to make one prediction: Jakob will either win or be the standard “best dancer” who gets voted off i.e. Will or Janette.
until next week…
